    No. No credit history is required and we do not require a minimum FICO credit score.
    Rent-A-Center does not report your payment history to the credit bureaus. We know life happens so, we allow you to return your products at any time without further obligation.
    All you need is some standard information:
  • Personal Info: Name, date of birth (Must be 18 or older) and contact info
  • Income Info: Verifiable source of income
  • Residence Info: Contact info for your landlord/mortgage company
  • 2-4 References: At least two references should be relatives with separate addresses
  • If your application is not approved, you will receive a detailed email as to the reason(s) why we were unable to approve you in 3-10 business days. Please feel free to re-apply in 30 days.
    Yes. Rent-A-Center does offer delivery and can work with you on delivery scheduling. We also offer products that are available to pick up based on availability.
    Yes, on new agreements, we may adjust the weekly rate, term and/or total price to match our rent/lease to own competitors’ advertised prices. The item must be the identical item, size, model number, quality and condition. The entire printed ad, online price or digital version of the ad must be presented for proof of competitors’ price. The price of the item must be listed and valid at the time of price match. We reserve the right to verify a competitor’s advertised price and the availability of the item.

    Account/Payments

    All you need is your first rental payment. That amount will vary by state and by the products you select, but when you start your order online, this can be as low as $10 to cover your first week. Of course, optional fees and taxes are extra. Customers in NY & HI will pay an additional $10 processing fee ($18 in CA). Contact your store for more complete details.
    You choose the payment schedule that works for you. You can make your payments weekly, biweekly (every two weeks), semi monthly or monthly.     Rent-A-Center offers three ways to pay.
  • Pay online or via the app. Create an account, or learn more about the Rent-A-Center mobile app.
  • Click here to find your store and make a payment.
  • Call your local store to pay by phone with Visa or MasterCard. $1.99 convenience fee may apply.
  • Set up your account now. You’ll need your agreement number to make payments online. This can be found on your rental agreement or provided by your local store. Even if you have more than one agreement, you’ll only need one of the agreement.
    No, automatic payments can only be set for the standard amounts due on your items based on your pay frequency. If you want to take advantage of 4-6 Months Same As Cash** or early purchase discount, contact your local store. Longer Same As Cash periods may be available for limited promotions in select locations.
    Need a little help? No worries. If you ever need to make a late payment, simply contact the manager of your Rent -A-Center store on or before your scheduled renewal (payment) date - we'll be happy to work with you!
    Life happens. At any time, you can contact your store to schedule a return of your product or return the merchandise in person and pause your payments. When you're ready, you can come back, reinstate your agreement to get the same or comparable item, and pick up your payments right where you left off.
    At Rent-A-Center, you don’t lose what you pay into an agreement. If you voluntarily return a product before reaching ownership, you’ll be given a payment protection voucher that will allow you to pick up where you left off when you’re ready. Just call or visit your local store and a store associate will help you restart your agreement

    There are three ways to redeem your payment protection voucher / store credit:
  • Reinstate your agreement: You have the option of getting your item \(or a comparable item\) back, and the full amount of the voucher will be applied to the agreement.
  • Switch to another item: If you don’t want the same item you were renting before, use your voucher to get up to three months off the original term of any previously rented item. The voucher will reduce the total cost and allow you to own the item sooner.
  • Transfer the credit to a friend: Give your voucher to a friend. They can take over the payments on your original item or get up to three month off a previously rented item.
  • Yes, just call or visit your local store. They will help you reinstate your agreement and apply your store credit.

    Ownership Options

    YES. At Rent-A-Center, you always have an early purchase option that will save you money compared to paying the total cost to own in your lease. You have the freedom to choose the option that works best for your budget. When you’re ready to own, simply pay the early purchase price and it’s yours! *NOTE: Early Purchase Option requires a payment in addition to regular rental payments.
  • 6 Months Same as Cash**: Own it in the first 6 months and you'll pay only the cash price. 6 Months Same as Cash not available in HI, NJ, NY, WV and select franchised locations. Such locations may offer 4-6 Months Same as Cash; 4 Months Same As Cash valid only on new agreements, and period ends 123 days after start of the new agreement.
  • Standard Early Purchase : After your same as cash period has ended, you still save on the remaining total if you choose to own your item early. Most Rent-A-Center locations offer a 50 percent savings on the remaining total. This can vary by state, so be sure to review your agreement.
  • No. In fact, Rent-A-Center offers an Early Purchase Discount. If you choose to own your item early, you’ll save on the remaining total.
    The Same as Cash period provides your lowest early purchase option price. In the same as cash period, you can purchase the item by paying the difference between the rent you’ve already paid and the cash price shown on your agreement at any time before the Same as Cash period ends. You end up owning it for the original cash price, plus tax, of course. Typically, the same as cash period is 6 months** depending on the product, but it can vary by state. In some states the same as cash period is 4-6 months, and in certain franchised locations same as cash may not be available.

    Yes! At Rent-A-Center, we offer the latest and greatest brand name items in new condition. In addition, if you're looking to save even more, we carry previously rented merchandise for up to 50% off when compared to an item in new condition.** All of our previously rented furniture, appliances, computers, electronics, and smartphones go through a rigorous quality inspection process that includes thorough cleaning and testing. Start your order online to have someone contact you or visit your nearest Rent A Center store.
    Contact your local store to set up an appointment to repair your product.
    Yes! If an item breaks during normal use, we'll repair it quickly and at no additional cost. If offsite repairs are needed, we'll even give you a loaner while you wait. Contact your Rent-A-Center store to set up an appointment.
    At Rent-A-Center you can upgrade at any time. Just contact your store. Your payments will adjust based on the new product selected.

    Benefits/LDW

    Liability Damage Waiver (LDW) is an optional program that protects you from liability in the event your rental product is stolen or damaged due to natural disaster, fire or smoke. Without LDW, you are responsible for the cost to repair or replace the stolen or damaged merchandise . By paying a small fee with each rental payment, you pass this responsibility on to Rent-A-Center, so you can breathe easy!
    LDW protects you from a wide range of unexpected events, such as theft, fire, lightning, flooding and other acts of nature. It does not cover loss or damage from abuse or carelessness.
    LDW protection is available to all customers with a current agreement, in all states excluding California.
    Most customers still benefit from LDW even if they have homeowners or renters insurance. Many insurance policies have high deductibles and may not cover rental products. We recommend you check if your insurance will cover the cost to replace or repair rental merchandise and consider the amount of your deductible when deciding whether LDW is right for you and your budget.
    In most states, the Liability Damage Waiver is only 10% of your rental payment. Contact your local store for your state's pricing.
    Whether you’re starting a new rental agreement or you’re already a customer, you can opt in to LDW anytime before a loss occurs. Contact your local store to add the Liability Damage Waiver to your agreement. It only takes a few minutes.
    Simply contact your local store . If your product is damaged, we will attempt to repair it. If your product is stolen, we will ask you to provide a police report.
    Yes. If you want to stop payments on your Liability Damage Waiver, just let a store associate know. There are no fees or penalties for changing your mind.
    RAC Benefits Plus is an optional add on to your rental agreement. Membership provides a host of money saving opportunities for items you would purchase anyway. Member benefits vary by state, but these are a few examples of what may be available where you live.

  • Protection Benefits*: You may be protected in the event that you involuntarily lose your job, become ill or injured and unable to work, in the event of an untimely passing of an eligible member listed on the rental agreement and protection on your merchandise for up to one year after ownership.

  • The Transparency in Coverage Final Rule requires insurers and group health plans to publish machine-readable files starting July 1, 2022. The files contain in-network rates and out-of-network allowed amounts.. In response to this rule, Rent-A-Center has made these files available to our RAC employees. This link leads to the machine-readable files that are made available and includes negotiated service rates and out-of-network allowed amounts between health plans and healthcare providers. The machine-readable files are formatted to allow researchers, regulators, and application developers to access and analyze data more easily.

    During the first 6 months of your agreement when your agreement is in good standing with rental payments current. If you are past 6 months you are well on your way to ownership. You can take advantage of early purchase options. Or see more in #7 below for Lifetime Reinstatement options.
    New and previously rented product at your local RAC store or an item that your store can otherwise obtain. Cash price or rental rate of products may not exceed approval amount on the day of the exchange, and may require submission of a new application for approval.
    100% of the rental payments in the first 6 months will be applied to reduce the total cost of ownership on your next item (excluding taxes and fees).

    Yes, your rental payments will be adjusted to the rate of the next item you rent. Work with your store for details.
    Your same as cash period will be based on the item selected and restart with your new agreement, providing an opportunity to pay the lowest price possible to acquire ownership.
    No, but you still have options. First, you may exercise an early purchase option to receive a discount off the total remaining payments required to acquire ownership. Second, if you need to take a break from renting, you can return your merchandise (with no penalty), then come back later and use your Lifetime Reinstatement. Lifetime Reinstatement gives you a Comeback Coupon voucher that works 3 ways with a valid new application (1) pick up where you left off on the same item 2) switch & save and get 3 months off the original term of any previously rented item 3) share your reinstatement voucher with a friend who has applied and been approved, and they can then pick #1 or #2.
    You can, every agreement is available for RAC Exchange within the first 6 months.
